AWIONS

Sterilization

Stand-alone air unit

The atmospheric ozone is formed at 20km above the sea level in the stratosphere. It is generated by the ultraviolet sun rays that react with the oxygen contained in the air. The sun radiation energy breaks the oxygen molecule (O2) into its compounds, 2 oxygen atoms. Subsequently each free oxygen atom (O) bounds with another oxygen molecule (O2) that has not been broken down and an ozone molecule (O3) is formed. This process is instantaneous and continuous This process creates a perfect balance: the ozone absorbs the sun radiation and breaks down, becoming once more oxygen. The ultraviolet radiation, deadly for all the animal and vegetation species, are blocked by the process described above and do not reach the earth surface. Small quantities of ozone can be formed also in the lower zones of the atmosphere, below the 15km above the sea level, during the events of lightning storms.

Advantages

The advantages in using the ozone can be summarized in the following list:
  • For disinfection and sterilization of the air in the surgeries, in the medical practices and in all sanitary facilities;
  • To eliminate the tobacco and/or animal odours from the clothes and fabrics:
  • To kill the bacteria in the food packaging areas/warehouses;
  • To eliminate the spores of mould and yeast floating in the air during the food processing;
  • To eliminate the insects in the storages.

Main function:

The unique chemical composition and the highly reactive chemical nature of the ozone render it a perfect disinfectant and oxidizer against a wide range of microorganisms. It reacts faster than any other oxidant available on the market. The ozone initiates the oxidation process on any organic molecule as soon as after the contact between them takes place, thus reducing massively the quantity of virus and bacteria. After the decontamination process has finished, the ozone naturally decomposes itself into oxygen, without leaving any toxic residues. This makes him entirely eco-friendly.

In which cases can we use the Sterilization Ozone Unit?

What is OZONE and how is it produced?

Commercially, the ozone can be used for disinfection of the premises (floating in the air or attached to the surfaces of the objects), elimination of the odours, sterilization of the equipment. The ozone kills the microorganisms, such as bacteria floating in the potable water, in the swimming pools and in the spa. The Corona effect method is most common for generating ozone for commercial use, mainly because of its low cost and high reliability. This method uses an electric charge to separate the oxygen molecule into 2 separate oxygen atoms. The ozone is less stable compared to the oxygen: when it comes in contact with a bacterium, one oxygen atom (O) detaches from the ozone molecule (O3) and oxidizes the bacterium, thus neutralizing it. Once the process is carried out, the ozone naturally breaks down into oxygen (O2), without leaving any toxic residues.
